5 Warning Signs That You Need to Replace Your Roof

Do you think it is time for a new roof? There are a few things to look for when you think you’re nearing the time to call a contractor! Check out our 5 warning signs below.

Warning Signs

1.) Leaks and Water Damage – Do not ignore even a small leak in your home. These leaks will continue to grow if they remain untreated. This may be an indicator of a much bigger problem with your roof. Dark stains, sagging spots, and rotting tiles are all signs of water damage to your roof.

2.) Rotting – Rotting is very common for asphalt and wooden roofs. If you see signs of rotting then that is a very good indication that you need a new roof. Pay attention to rotting so that you can prevent a bigger problem.

3.) Roof Age – An easy indication of roof replacement is knowing the age of your roof. If your roof is older than 20 years old it may be time for a roof replacement!

4.) Moss and Algae – When there is a lot of moss on your roof it is not good. Moss traps moisture which damages the roof. If you see moss start to grow on your roof try and use a stiff brush to get rid of it.

5.) Decaying Shingles – Decay and cracking are very common for shingle roofs. Look for spots on the roof with missing or decaying shingles. This is a significant sign that the roof needs to be replaced.
